Living City Project

My graphite pencil drawings and oil paintings form part of my 'Living City Project' - a visual documentation of raw and honest city/street scenes, focusing on NYC, Philadelphia, Atlanta and now, New Orleans. I reference my work using photographs which I shot, myself and my work represents "snapshots" of the ordinary, the mundane, and the unseen, and elevates them to new levels of significance - where the ordinary become extraordinary! During the process, I develop an intimacy with my subjects and grant them new status - giving the viewer a very different and new perspective on everyday things, events and people that are mostly overlooked and hidden in plain view. The unsightly become beautiful, the unheard are given a voice, and the invisible, the unremarkable, and the discarded - all become a focal point, taking center stage!
